      Resources for your teaching

      Resources for your teaching

Explore the growing number of resources within the Library collections that include resources for teachers and materials to embed in your modules.

There are a growing number of resources within the Library collections that include diverse materials to support teaching beyond the traditional books, e-books and journals. Resources that include video content licenced for use within lectures or embedding within Canvas, teacher notes, case studies, lab protocols and much more. All of these resources are designed for you to use within your teaching and provide alternative learning opportunities for students.

      Sage Research Methods

SAGE Research Methods is a new resource available to us at Newcastle University which is invaluable for anyone undertaking an independent research project or dissertation.

It is a database containing thousands of resources dedicated to the subject area of Research Methods. It supports all stages of the research process from writing a research question, conducting a literature review, choosing the best research methods, analysing data, to writing up your results and thinking about publication. It contains information suited to all levels of researchers, from undergraduates starting their first projects to research associates.

Within the resource students will be able to access dictionary and encyclopaedia entries, book chapters, full books, journal articles, case studies, some datasets and streaming videos from SAGE Research Methods Video.

SAGE Research Methods includes a wealth of teacher resources and reusable materials licensed for educational use for you to draw on, allowing you to reuse materials and show videos within your teaching free of copyright concerns.

Coming soon, SAGE Research Methods will be embedded in Canvas as an LTI, allowing you to easily embed videos, learning materials, case studies and videos into your Canvas courses.

Access the SAGE Research Methods User Guide for an overview of the resource.

      SAGE Research Methods Videos

SAGE Research Methods Video is a streaming video collection created to support you as you approach your research project and includes nearly 130 hours of video including tutorials, case study videos, expert interviews, and more, covering the entire research methods and statistics curriculum. The videos offer real life application of research methods and provide an alternative way of accessing information about research methods. The videos provide students with the oppotunity to hear from researchers about how they have used the methods and offer an alternative voice or explanation of a concept, which can be very useful when trying to understand more difficult concepts.

The videos are academic in quality and form part of a curated collection so you can be confident using these resources in your teaching.

Videos include a running transcript, allowing for full text searching and you can create clips that will allow you to make your own custom selections of videos to use in a presentation or discussion about your research.
